Cbank: Russians’ net demand for foreign currency cash up 18% in Sep
MOSCOW, Nov 13 (PRIME) – Russians’ net demand for foreign currency cash rose 18% on the month and 7% on the year to U.S. $3 billion in September mainly due to higher net demand for the U.S. dollars, the central bank said in a statement on Tuesday.
Combined demand for foreign currency cash fell 2% on the month to $6.2 billion in September.
Demand for U.S. dollars in September remained almost flat on the month at $4.4 billion, and demand for euros fell 6% to $1.8 billion. The share of U.S. dollars in combined demand remained at 70%, while the share of euros fell to 28% from 29%.
Supply of foreign currency cash decreased 16% on the month and 8% on the year to $3.2 billion in September.
